The Fear

In a human being, there are several characteristics. A human has many emotions, different mood swings and different behaviours. All of these pointers depend upon what happens in their surroundings, and all mood swings and behaviours are just their reactions towards it. There are some good times for a person where he’ll be in a great mental space, and there will be other times when he/she will be struggling to get a move on.

One of the biggest reasons for having tough times in our lives is being feared about something. We’re often up and running about things when we’re not thinking too much about things, and just enjoying ourselves. But then comes the time when we have a few poor performances which put us under immense pressure in things going forward. Fear is something that gets the better of most people without much effort.

There are always consequences for everything we do wrong. Getting feared has its own consequences and one of them is hazardous for others. Like the COVID-19 pandemic, fear is something that can spread in minutes but will take a certain amount of time to reach the body. If one of your close friends or family is afraid of something and speaks to you about it, the scary vibes flow all over the body. From your friend to you, and then to several others, the spread of this fear is never-ending.

What are the different fears? The fear we’re most familiar with is the fear of missing out. Being a part of the 21st Century, we cannot afford to sit out of discussions or party plans. Tackling boredom has been a difficulty for us, and thus fear of missing out (abbreviation ‘FOMO’). Though many don’t consider it as a fear, it spreads like wildfire. There might be differences between you and your group, thus making you think they’ll leave you out.

There are other fears, such as fear of being removed, fear of losing something, all these are under the label of phobias. A phobia is something almost everyone has, and it is a fear which is unlikely to cause any harm. There’s intense anxiety about the person, thing, situation or place. Phobia is a fear that activates helplessness, thus symbolizing it as a common disease with a unique diagnosis. There can be a phobia of a person like a school teacher (count me in for that), or fear of skydiving aka phobia of heights.

The most common and ‘trending’ phobia/fear currently is the one and only, COVID-19 pandemic, it needs no introduction. The pandemic, already having celebrated its first birthday (hoping it’s the last one), has wreaked havoc ever since coming into existence. It’s definitely the only phobia one should be afraid of because when it catches you, you do not escape for 14 crucial ways, no matter whatsoever. COVID-19’s main goal is to divide people, and it has succeeded in doing so. One man’s loss means opportunity for another, and REAL LIFE’s loss was VIRTUAL WORLD’s gain.

Such has been the impact and fear of COVID-19, people are now scared of getting themselves tested for the deadly virus. One of the reasons for its spread is people being scared of getting hold of the virus. No testing themselves when required, results in the virus moving around in people’s bodies for fun. It’s okay to be scared but if you have been diagnosed with the virus, there’s no denying it. You have to sit out for 14 days whatsoever, but if there’s a little less fear, you may actually be able to prevent other people from getting hold of the virus. People are scared and ashamed that after they recover, there will still be the label: Former COVID patient. Follow the protocols, and the virus ain’t getting near you.

What we all want is that the pandemic and vaccine go hand in hand, eventually preventing the spread of the former. But again, unfortunately, the fear of the virus has prompted people somehow not to take the vaccine. Many are afraid that if they take the vaccine, they will somehow get the virus. The vaccine is completely safe, and at one point, all of us have to take it. People have gotten their doses of vaccine, in many cases both doses, but are still getting infected with the virus. This is merely because of these reasons: NO MASK, NO REGULAR SANITIZING and NO SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Everyone does have a phobia or two, and there is no way we can force somebody out of it. Negativity brings the best out of fear, succeeding in its plans in demoralizing you. CAUTION: fear is contagious, so when you’re afraid of something, one of your close ones will start getting afraid of the same thing too and the cycle goes on. The best way to not be afraid of something is to not deny the fact and come face to face with it (if it’s something scary like a snake, hippopotamus or a bat, do not come near them). It’ll be difficult at first, but eventually, you’ll get over the so-called ‘phobia/fear’. You may lose the battle, but fighting is always important. Until next time, stay safe, healthy, sanitize yourself, and WEAR A MASK. Cheers!

Adios.
