YouTube

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

There is a long summer break in everyone’s lives and it rejuvenates you to pursue something that you have longed for. You don’t have any sort of tension or stress due to exams or anything. You realize the ‘thing’ of your life in these couple of months, which you haven’t throughout your life, regardless of your age. I’m not talking about writing, painting, cooking, etcetera. It’s YouTube, something everyone dreams of.

It takes a certain amount of time for everyone to realize what they want to pursue in their lives, but YouTube and Acting are something that is everyone’s default career. If you’re part of this generation, we all know what kind of impact YouTube has on human beings. From little babies to old grandparents, YouTube has captured it all. YouTube’s inception dates way back to 2005, founded by the golden trio of Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. YouTube succeeded in becoming one of the best video platforms in the world, where users watch one billion hours of videos and hundreds of videos are uploaded every minute!

There are a million types of content uploaded on YouTube every day. The most common type of videos is YouTube tutorials. If we have difficulty with something, we just google it. But through YouTube, we have gone a step further. This amazing platform allows us to go and watch tutorials for free, and learn things that require money on other platforms. All these pointers make us feel that YouTube is absolutely correct in everything, and we can learn it all. There are innumerable tutorials that provide us with wrong information, which we don’t take notice of. Nowadays, there are these fake tutorials, which present ways in order to avoid getting infected from COVID-19. Eat garlic, cardamom, go to spirituals discourses, and so on are fake tutorials to avoid COVID diagnosis. YouTube does provide us with valuable tutorials, but don’t learn everything from YouTube.

The next type of content is vlogs. We have heard of blogs, but these are a short form of ‘video blogs’. These are mainly made possible to depict the vlogger’s persona, culture, and impressions. The person talks on a particular subject or reviews a product. In all these ways, vlogging is a great way to engage with the audience and get more subscribers. To get more views, likes, and subscribers, vloggers accept challenges that people enjoy watching, thus getting immense success. These include travel vlogs, reviewing the latest trends, etcetera. But the greed for subscribers has encouraged vloggers to do things that don’t make sense. I watched a video recently where the title was: ‘ALIEN DRINK Challenge’. I opened the video mysteriously, but it turned out to be a total disaster. They mixed different sodas and it didn’t really seem like a challenge, it still got over a hundred likes. Geez, this is what people do for subscribers and fame.

It was once the most favorite and hilarious piece of content on YouTube. I’m talking about the ‘TYPES of’ videos, and it was fun watching those because they were different from others and relatable. An amazing idea started by somebody great is now stolen by many uncreative YouTubers who’re just creating it again. These videos don’t even make sense anymore as they’re just copying content from others, which was once original. Creating the same content repeatedly will only lead the new creators to take up the same topics, and we won’t see any new videos at all. No offense, but these ‘types’ of videos are a little too much.

The least criticized content on YouTube is ‘YouTube Kids’. For these forms of videos, we don’t need to criticize creators at all. It’s just simple content created for kids particularly which includes nursery rhymes, poems and songs particularly based for kids under the age of 13. It’s not just a form of content, but actually a platform for kids.

The latest and most trending piece of content on YouTube currently is ‘YouTube Shorts’. It’s not exactly a type of content but people use it to promote their own content using ‘#youtubeshorts’ or ‘#shorts’. As the word suggests, these videos are short in duration, thus not taking too much of the user’s time. The YouTuber uploads a video of less than 1 minute, and after adding ‘#shorts’ in the title, it gets recommended in other people’s YouTube feed. This allows people to upload regularly, and instead of uploading a long video every now and then, they can upload a few shorts every week to make up for it. A ‘shorts’ video can also be a teaser for an upcoming video, letting the audience get glimpses of the next video.

YouTube has been a huge success over the years, and many have made it their career too. There are other types of content like pet, comedy, and gaming videos, these have been very successful lately. This comment might sound controversial: Not everyone has the talent of being a ‘successful’ YouTuber, and there are other things you might succeed at. But again, if you have really decided to become the best despite several failures, you ought to win! If there's anything wrong with the article, I'm open to criticism and feedback from all. Until next time, stay safe, healthy, sanitize yourself, and WEAR A MASK. Cheers!

Adios.
