Mother's Day

Updated: Jun 5, 2021

There are days set aside to honour the legendary people in our lives, and one of those days is dedicated to the women who raised us. A day to recognize the gargantuan efforts taken by mothers throughout their lives, honouring a day for them isn’t enough for what they’ve done for us. Mother’s Day is supposed to be a day where you celebrate a mother’s contributions, love, and million other things she does for her kids and family. Our mothers constantly work for us without hardly any leaves all throughout the year, so isn’t it our duty to acknowledge her efforts and care and celebrate each day like Mother’s Day?

Every year we gear up to celebrate this occasion, we only seem to be wondering what we’ll give our mothers, and also how we’ll plan this special day out. What we don’t give enough thought about why we celebrate Mother’s Day only once a year? Is this one single day every year in May to give our love and care back to all the good deeds our mom has done for us? For me, each and every day should be Mother’s day, because they keep working 365 days all year long. Unlike us, they don’t do everything at once on a single day of the year and rest for the remaining period. There is nothing more invaluable on this planet than our mother’s happiness.

We were all curious about how we should honour these moms, and thus originated Mother’s Day. We are blessed that we see moms of every generation at almost every location. I want all the mothers in the world to know that their efforts don’t go in vain, and neither do they go unnoticed. Most of y'all are homemakers, while the others are Working+managing homes. These legendary people are the real superheroes above everything else.

The dates and celebrations may differ every year, Mother’s Day most commonly falls on the second Sunday of May and historically involves presenting mothers with cards and gifts. We dedicate a Day to celebrating mothers and their existence, but what happens a day after? We’re back to our regular lives and busy schedules. It will take you more than a year to appreciate your mother’s efforts (unless it’s her birthday). The main point and only point is celebrating her kindness, love, adjustments and hard work involved in raising and making you a better person.

We don’t know the exact definition of the word, Mother. It’s a mixture of nearly everything possible. They cook us delicious and mind-blowing food; they help us with our school work; they celebrate our success and achievements, and also give us a shoulder in times of sorrow; scold us when we’re wrong and what not? They are for sure the proper definition of genuine All-Rounders in the world and trust me, they’re always one of a kind.

We get pissed at moms when we’re reprimanded for wrongdoings. In our childhood, we feel that moms are always pissed off and keep scolding us every other time, even though it isn’t our fault. Many years later, we’ll realise that our moms scolded us only to become better humans. Whenever they scold us, we just forget the good and fun times we spent with her. That one moment shouldn’t ruin us, and we should immediately apologise. All the good times are overshadowed by one single bad moment.

The advice we receive from our moms is precious. We might be thinking that they never appreciate us, and instead, keep criticizing us and point out mistakes. What we don’t realise is that they’re just helping us to improve on some particular path. They don’t have anything against us, and selflessly they help us every other time. They’re eternal optimists, who guide us through the biggest of storms, smoothly enough. For all mothers, each and every day is important and equal. They do not change their routine, and keep going on with that every day. Unlike us, they never work hard for us only for a single day, but every day. It’s definitely the only job that doesn’t receive any monetary benefits, but work like hell! Also, they hardly

have any absentee mark, and always are punctual.

Throughout my life, I’ve met different mothers at different locations, of different generations. They do have loads of things in common, but according to my research, they don’t care about Mother’s Day at all. They don’t care about those expensive gifts you bought her, family dinners and late-night movies you planned for her. All they care about is your love and a little appreciation. They might have enjoyed the gifts you bought her, but what brings them more joy and happiness is you talking to her and spending time with her.

A mother can be anyone. It can be your sister, daughter, friend, grandmother or aunt, you just have to feel and understand it. A mother is almost everywhere, and she’s always a mentor to you. They find several ways to connect with their kids, and how to keep them motivated and busy. Mothers are available for us throughout, but it’s about us giving them time. Our mothers deserve more than a day to make them feel special and important. And as they say, better late than never – do something special for your mom today and every day. They go through several pains and hardships, which makes them REAL SUPERHEROES. Until next time, stay safe, healthy, sanitize yourself, and WEAR A MASK. Cheers!

Adios.
