Technology has played a massive part in the development and structure of human beings. It gets the much-deserved praise for all its contributions to the world. As we know, technology has nearly made everything possible. From washing clothes to creating word documents, technology has nailed it all. But amid all these advantages, Technology has plenty of flaws that people generally don’t point out.

The development and flexible features that technology has provided us was absolutely unimaginable and invaluable. None of us would’ve ever imagined being part of the online life: attending online meetings, watching movies and web-series on OTT platforms, work from home and so many other things. I will never refuse to believe that technology has built the future of many people, including us. The hard work put by technicians and so many others (investors, assistants, workers, managers) has paid out, and makes technology an undisputed king of the universe. The millions of advantages and merits make people think it’s flawless, but amid all this, there are more disadvantages than we think. Kudos to technology for making blogging possible.
In this world of greatness, there’s nothing perfect and everyone or everything has flaws that need to be sort out. With technology being no exception, we need to look at the top 5 disadvantages that make technology equally bad for us.
1. The Screen Time: The biggest disadvantage of technology is the amount of time we spend on screen throughout the day. In the past, we used to grow up reading books, playing in backyard or our pets, but now none of this happens. Young kids now have phones, tablets and PCs so that they can live out the entire day in fun by playing games, watching videos, etcetera. We should only be on screen during the designated hours of school or office.

In the past one year, the screen time of both children and adults has increased substantially compared to the period before the pandemic. We’re physically and mentally drained looking at screen all day, and almost every other night we promise ourselves to reduce the screen time, but that doesn’t happen ever. The physical condition of a person spending their entire day on screen worsens day by day due to lack of fitness and exercise. Instead of doing something productive without using an electronic device or spending time with family, all of us spend our day staring at screens. I can write an entire blog on Screen time as it has literally captured us.

2. Too much dependency on technology: Using technology to resolve our problems is normal, but nowadays too much dependency on technology has affected a lot of people badly. If we compare ourselves with the people 30 years ago, there are plenty of differences. People then were very independent, creative and worked hard to resolve their own problems without somebody’s help.
People of this era are totally depended on technology for their work and issues. If we take away all the technological means and machines away from them, they won’t be able to work properly because of their over-dependency on technology which has made them lose their own creativity and also affected their health. Honestly, technology has made humans lazy and it has also lowered the value of human work.

3. Security, privacy and cyber-crimes: Our society is growing more dependent on technology day by day, and to make things easier, every person wants to finish their work automatically through technology. They install security systems like CCTV cameras in houses, offices, etcetera. But what if all of a sudden it fails to work properly? People will lose trust from technology that has given them nearly everything. They’ll also lose valuables like money, privacy or even their lives. We should realize sooner than later that technology helps us every time, but it can fail to do us on some occasions. Don’t be too dependent on it.

Cyber bullying is another factor that makes people lose their trust on technology. Cyber Bullies use social media platforms to harass people mentally, and the advancement of technology has made it possible for them. We should be careful to avoid being part of such situations, by once again being less dependent on technology. Cyber crimes are also common nowadays as people easily fool others and take their money or other valuables. Frauds, scams have increased a lot in recent times, and we should be aware that we don’t be trapped in it.

4. Technology causes wastage of money: When a new electronic device comes in the market, all of us desire to get one of it for ourself. The device becomes a trend amongst the people all over the world, and we too waste our money on it. There are two ways of wasting money on technology- The first is buying necessary technology like washing machines, fridges etcetera. These devices are highly expensive and need proper maintenance.
The second way is buying unnecessary technological gadgets like mobile phones just because it’s new in the market. People waste money on buying things they don’t even need and only get it just because they want to show off the latest, most advanced mode of technology. Always think before you spend money on technology.
5. Technology causes addiction: This is the most disturbing thing when we speak of technology. In today’s busy technological world, people are addicted to technology and use it almost every other time. Kids are deeply affected by too much usage and addiction of technology, but they can’t get over it.

If we go to a restaurant, garden, in a cab or any public place, we’ll see people using their mobile phones just to keep themselves occupied. The first thing many people do when they wake up in the morning is check their mobiles. Even while eating a meal, they can’t control themselves from using their phones. Excess use of phones, laptops, tablets etcetera causes depression, anxiety and lack of communication with people.
Many of us will deny the fact that technology has made us miserable and addicted towards it, but none of us can disagree to all the pointers I’ve stated above. Technology may be the king of the universe, but even the king has flaws he needs to sort out. We might not be able to reduce our time and dependency on technology, but we can surely give our best not to get too much addicted to it and use it in limit. Each one of us must’ve experienced at least one of the above pointers, and I’m no exception. That’s all for today, until next time, stay safe, healthy.
Adios.
