Hypocrisy

If you’re living in this world, there are a lot of shortcomings and drawbacks which you do not expect at all. Everything is flawed and we live in a world of judgmental people. Hypocrisy means that a person is pretending to be someone he isn’t, and knows the fact, but continues to be. This word comes from the Greek word meaning ‘playing a theatrical role’ and does it not fit perfectly?

If the word’s original meaning ‘playing a theatrical role’ is taken into consideration, then the world is definitely full of brilliant actors, or maybe budding ones. Hypocrisy is probably one of the worst traits that a human being can have. It isn’t age-based, and can happen to anyone, at any time, based on the situation.

Three cheers for hypocrisy! These are words in almost every politician’s mouth, but don't come out in the media. During elections, they give their manifestos, containing all plans and ideas for the future. Every candidate provides the citizens with a manifesto containing the best of features. But what happens after the elections? Most of these policies are scrapped right away, and in comes the dictatorship of politicians. That’s right, even in democracies like the USA, Russia, there is indirect play of dictatorship, and people don’t even realize it. Despite preaching to follow and play by the rules, and in general, politicians bend the rules to get their work done, like Russia’s President Putin has done. A president can be elected for only 2 terms, but he has already gone past that barrier.

What can be the worst possible type of hypocrisy? People who teach others not to be hypocrites, and state reasons: blah, blah, blah. What these people do is they teach not to be hypocrites, but themselves. Teaching all this stuff might be their way of being a hypocrite. Being in a world full of hypocrites, we tend to believe people cannot change, and they won’t. It’s you who’s gotta change.

The main reason for being a hypocrite is to impress others. Most people try to make friends, join groups, etcetera by impressing them with things they don’t even do. In most cases becoming a hypocrite is not a choice, and we become one of them as time goes by, and as per the requirements. It’s always easy to get into bad things such as this, but it’s too tough to bail yourself out of it. Instead of being something you’re not, be yourself.

We have underestimated a human being’s ability to nail being a hypocrite. THERE ARE OVER A MILLION examples of hypocrisy, but I could only think of a few of them.

One of the examples is when people say that when a thing is branded, it has good quality, so the price doesn’t matter. But if you’re purchasing from the street, you have to get it for the lowest possible price. Another thing is, that a person doesn’t like anyone making fun of his religion, but ridiculing every other religion is just fine.

The following is an example of how hypocrisy is at its best. India was scheduled to play New Zealand in the WTC Final back on 18th June, and the following was my prediction. Mind you, it actually happened.

If India won the WTC final, they will be hailed as the best and unbeatable team in the world, while New Zealand will be pitied and working so hard for reaching the finals, but losing eventually. If India loses, they will be abused, people will ask Virat Kohli to be sacked as captain, remove the coaching staff, and make a lot of changes. India will be labelled chokers. New Zealand will be hailed and praised for winning against favorites India. Indians are #hypocrites too.

For plenty of people in the world, HYPOCRISY is the best policy.
