2020! Let us take a moment to breath that this horrific year has finally ended. What a year it has been. A lot of positives to take away, and a lot of negativity was also seen around. The only thing left for 2020, is summing it up. I know I’m a couple of weeks late, that’s because it took me time to digest that 2020 has finally ended. With the kind of people I met, they were really gearing up for 2021, and were just exhausted living in 2020. It might be the same case with you, but we can’t end the year without summing it up.

The year started off in GREAT FASHION, with all of us looking to pursue all our dreams, that we couldn’t in 2019. As it was the end of the 10-year cycle, 2010-2019, all of us looked forward to 2020 as a MASSIVE change in life, and trying to fix things that we couldn’t in the past.
Things continued to be the same with all of us, till February at least, and then started one of the most difficult periods of our life, THE LOCKDOWN, in mid-March.

SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, MALLS, OFFICES, etcetera. shut down during this period. And then started the ONLINE LIFE, something all of us would definitely have dreamt to live, and it started in a pretty ordinary way. All of us thought that living an online life wouldn’t be tough as the normal life, but things have been tough. From online sessions to online exams, extraordinary things happened in the year with extraordinary results. Teachers worked extremely hard to keep the children occupied with some work or the other, and didn’t allow them to waste this time.
We spent plenty of time with our family, that normally we don’t in our normal routine, and which one of the best things that happened this year. If anybody reading spent quality time with your family in the same way during the normal times (Non-COVID times), then a thumbs up to you, because that’s rare.

Then there were the OTT platforms, who had a big success through this year. With theatres closed all over the world, online streaming services made most of it by allowing users to watch Web Series’ and movies online and made it look like a theatre experience.
People who went to office, would’ve really wanted a big, nice holiday, and come back with a fresh mind, and the year 2020 definitely gave them a long holiday, but there was something else that happened with them, WORK FROM HOME. This meant that even though they had a long holiday, they had to work harder than ever in order to earn a living, while a lot of them also lost their jobs.
People who earned money through daily wages were hurt by 2020 even harder, as a National Wide Lockdown was declared in India, which meant that they had no work to do. Salesmen, farmers, laborers had suffered the same fate, as they incurred a massive loss.
Things became better in the last couple of months in 2020, as offices, businesses, etcetera restarted. Live Sports came back after several months in order to entertain us and all of us thought 2020 might end on a good note with so many good things happening at the end of it.
This thought was in our mind till a new strain of Coronavirus emerged in both England and South Africa, and all our thoughts that the year would end in a good way, vanished.
There were too many deaths in the year, not only in our nation, but in the entire world. All we can do is hope that nothing as such as this happens in 2021, a year we all look up to.

We all lost a lot of activities or favourite hobbies such as sports, and bless 2021, most of these activities have already restarted. As I said if we lost a lot of things in 2020, then I’m damn sure that we all learnt many things in the same year. I’m not just talking about extra curricular activities but life and lessons. We spent plenty of time at home, and throughout this period, I’ve learnt a lot of things.
I’m sure that all of us had some goals that we couldn’t achieve in 2019, and wanted to work as hard as we could to achieve them in 2020, but due to several reasons couldn’t. So what our motive for 2021 should be is that we should work twice as hard to achieve our goals, and most important thing is to not give up, thinking that if we couldn’t achieve it in 2020, we can’t achieve them in 2021 either. 2021 is a fresh year, and all of us should begin it with a fresh perspective.
2021 has already started on a positive note as schools for classes 9-12 have started, and very soon for classes 6-8. The vaccine for the deadly virus has come out in some countries, and people have started getting themselves vaccinated. Things have started to become a little better compared to last year, and we hope that 2021 rocks for us. Until the next blog, have a good time all of you, and keep safe and healthy. See you next time, until then, ADIOS.
And do rate 2020 THE YEAR on the scale of 1 to 10 down in the comments section.
